Meet the Lamberts
UUFCC’s Minister is Rev. Dr. Dan Lambert. Dan was born and raised in rural northeast Indiana, where he attended a small school that still houses all 13 grades in one building.
He attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, as a journalism/public relations major and drama minor. While at BSU, Dan became a Christian after being raised in a non-religious home. Shortly thereafter, he felt called into youth ministry and studied ministry at a Bible College. He graduated in 1985, joining the staff of Campus Life that summer. After that he served a couple of churches as youth pastor before attending seminary.
In seminary, Dan began teaching undergraduate courses as a grad assistant, and after completing his degree and finishing an Ed.D. at the University of Cincinnati, began teaching full-time. He accepted a faculty position at John Brown University in 2000, and served as faculty, and later Dean, until 2011. After stints in administration at Tiffin University in Ohio and Keiser University in Florida, Dan felt called back to ministry in 2017. He became the Ministerial Leader at 1st UU of the Palm Beaches in November of 2017.
Rev. Dan also has a Master of Humanities degree in creativity studies, as well as several credits toward a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography.
Dan has found a theological home as a UU after rejecting the absolute and exclusive truth claims of evangelicalism. He believes that whatever creator god exists is simply too big to require every human to fit into one tiny theological box. He values learning from everyone’s spiritual journey and seeks the truth in all religious traditions. Dan’s commitment to the 7 Principles of Unitarian Universalism are evident in his preaching, his relationships, and his leadership style.
Dan and his wife Tess, who was born and raised in western Ohio, have a blended family with six children, ages 22 – 32. The kids are spread out around America and live in Nashville, Atlanta, Cleveland, Madison (WI), Ft. Lauderdale, and rural Ohio. Tess is a nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatry. They also have a bernedoodle named JuJu and a chihuahua mix named Jango.
In addition to ministry, Dan enjoys photography and music. He’s a big fan of classic rock, and plays acoustic guitar, percussion, and harmonica.
